In My Dreams - written by Ba'al and Shee

King of Fyre TFR

 In My dreams....

Looking over the Sketches in his book, his fingers traced lightly over the images.  Always her, never anything else in this particular book.  He′d made a habit of giving them to her as gifts each time he filled a book.  Closing His eyes, he let out a heavy sigh before closing the book, and setting it aside.  His hand moved to pull her ring from his pocket, and focus his thoughts.  Through their connection, his mind reached out to hers, trying to gauge how much she had calmed down since their fight that morning.

Eyes remaining closed, his thoughts were only on her, the images from the sketches mixing with he memories of When he had drawn them.  He imagined that the sketches were her, stretched out beside Him.  Drifting off to Sleep, he dreamed of Her, hoping that She kept their connection open on her end, and would join Him in the dream.  He needed to know how she felt before attempting to approach her.

In My dreams....reply

She had sat in the old church for hours talking to the dead priests about everything.  Not an answer to be had from either of them of course, which slightly amused her.   She drank the beers she had brought with her, and when they were through she easily sifted her cooler to her so she could have more.  At times in her one sided discussion she would hop off the alter to pace back, and forth, sometimes walk about the church itself pointing at certain skulls reminiscing the tale of the life she had taken.  Always she would wander back taking her seat up on the alter questioning them WHY?  This happened when her thoughts turned to her husband, their fight had hurt her badly.  She wanted nothing more than to not care, but things were so different now, she had changed.  Changed a lot for that matter, the feelings she felt overwhelmed her, her heart ached being away from him.  She lashed out yelling at the skeletal figures, screaming at times until she had literally worn herself out.  She laid out on the alter making herself comfy, only small chatter now asking what to do, and still no answers to be had.  Her eyes fluttered closed as she drifted off to sleep, completely spent from the days events.  It was only then he had reached out to her, she felt him close, but yet so far away.  He was using their deep bonded connection to be with her.

At first she was tempted to shut him out, but she couldn’t.  She had missed him so very much that day.  She let the dream take her to him, meeting him half way, the need to be with him too deep to deny, she had been his heart, and soul from the very first time they were together.  In her dream there was a fog that had seemed to have crept into the church, and then he was there, standing a few feet away from her.  She sat up on the alter looking at him, her heart skipping a beat at the sight.  As always she thought him to be so very handsome.  He truly had no clue what effect he had on her.  She hopped down moving to him through the low creeping fog.  She knew he could see all the kills she had made, the skulls embedded in the walls of the church evidence of how destructive and cruel she was.  It was the first time she had shared her church with him, it was a place they had never discussed, nor had she taken him to it.  She shivered as she took his hand in hers, glancing to the broken windows that were now replaced with a lattice of bone fragments she had intricately made over time.  She gave a small tug of his hand, pulling him towards the side door and out into the graveyard that covered the land around the church.

There she walked with him quietly through it, back towards her old home, the one that they had shared together in the very beginning.  Once there she shook her head, not wanting to go inside, but instead led him to the garden.  It was strewn with weeds, dried, dead plants, abandoned just as the church had been, but yet depicted how she felt deep inside.  As they entered it, the familiar maze was there but not the same as it had once been, just as she had changed over time.   She kept his hand in hers, but raised the other outwards, the dream rippled, twisted slightly, and then there it was her memories brought to life of another time when it had grown and thrived, much like herself.  It was a time when the two had been happy, spending much wonderful times within the beautifully cared for garden of hers.  They walked through it, only stopping when she did at a certain spot within that had meant so very much to her.  It was the spot where he had first taken her within, honing his powers, showing her how he had brought the ivy to life, making it flourish as he made sweet love to her against the high, walled shrub.  She looked to him then, a small smile curving her blood red lips.  It was here they would talk, that is if he wished to.

Once She accepted the connection, all He could do was watch her.  He had missed Her far more than He had realized.  After a Moment though, He looked around at Her surroundings.  Confusion crept across his features before looking back to her only to be replaced with a soft smile.  He didn’t know where this place was, but He liked it.  The green in His eyes that had faded away in their time apart returned the moment She took his hand.  In His Physical state, he clutched at the blanket as if He was truly holding her hand.  He could feel it, even though it was a dream, their connection so strong now that it was nearly a vivid memory in creation.  He walked with Her in the dream, looking over the seemingly familiar lands.  They were far different than he remembered though.  They had been so lush, and full of life before.

He knew were She had taken Him the Moment She changed the dream. He saw where they stopped, and smiled as the memories rushed to Him.  His free Hand reached out, brushing along the leaves.

“Funny how a location can spark so many memories…” He whispered softly, eyes on the wall of ivy.  The flowers that had bloomed around them when they were together came to mind.  That had been his first showing of his earth powers at all, and He had chosen to share them with Her. “I left one of My Gifts to You here.” He remembered, His voice raising a little more audible now, nearly a normal tone.  “Christmas? Our Anniversary?” He tried to recall, but it had been so long, the details were fuzzy.  He’d left notes all over the house, and a trail of gifts for Her to find, a poem leading to each one.  Did She still have those, or had they been burned in one of Their fights? “It was the first set of Sketches wasn’t it?” He thought a moment, reaching out to the sketches before Him in the physical world.  “Or were those on the porch?”  He shook His head, moving to lean against the ivy.  His head tilting back as he let out a soft sigh. “What happened to us?” He asked, looking towards her once more.  Still, after all these years She had an effect on him, everything but her forgotten in an instant the moment His eyes set on Hers.  She was always His everything.  “When did I all Shift?” He asked.  “We are still happy… sometimes… the rest of the time it just feels like there’s so much hatred, and resentment…” He paused, Shaking His head. “No.” He added, lacing his fingers with hers, and pulling Her close. “I don’t hate you.  I never could.”  His hand went to Her stomach, resting a moment before sliding around to Her waist, and resting on the small of her back.  His hold was loose, and she could pull away if she wanted.  He hoped that She didn’t though.

She watched the confused look that crossed his face when he took in their surroundings.  To her surprise when he looked back to her he smiled.  She knew at a later date she would need to take him through the catacombs below the house that lead to her morbid church explaining all of it, but right now it was all about them.  She liked seeing the color return to his eyes when she took his hand, in her own reality her hand closed, a warmth seeming to fill her, almost chasing the chill away that had seemed to invade her body in it’s sleeping state.  As they had walked she could feel all that he felt, the way he viewed it all.  His smile had lifted her spirits, but only some as he recognized where she had taken him.

She watched as he brushed the ivy he had grown, listening to him.  She spoke softly responding.  “I know….”  It was all she had said for the moment.  She watched and listened, nodding at what he had said next.  “Our Anniversary…or was it Valentines Day?”  The time had been so long ago, hard to remember herself, she could have sworn it was their first Anniversary that he had gifted her with a sketchbook.  She had saved them all, his beloved poems, the sketchbook, the jewelry, all of it she had set in a box, and had stored it in the old church, someplace she had known it would be safe, and no one else would ever think of looking for it there.  “You had left them on the porch, along with a gemmed tierra, here is where you left the last gift, which was a necklace. …. I still have them all.”  She admitted quietly.

She had dropped her gaze from him when he shook his head leaning back against the ivy.  That familiar ache, and pain in her chest returning as he spoke.  “I don’t know Ba’al, I just don’t know…”  she answered quietly.  Her hand had moved to cover her heart that felt so tattered and torn.  She dared a glance at him, her dull eyes meeting his.  “Yes, sometimes…sometimes we are happy… It all just…I don’t know…”  He surprised her lacing his fingers with hers, pulling her close to him.  She couldn’t see how he didn’t hate her with all she had ever done to him.  Unshed tears formed in her eyes as he placed his hand over her stomach, their child resting within peacefully.  Such a gentle touch meant so very much to her.  She was surprised once more as he pulled her close, yet still gave her the room to pull back.  She reached up with her hand, softly caressing his jaw.  “I have never hated you Ba’al, with all that has happened, never once have I had those types of feelings….I have loved you through it all.”  Their fights during the time they had been together were horrid to say the least, but never once had she hated him through it all.  She moved in against him then, slipping her arms about his neck, the need to be close to him filling her.  Off in the cold church she clutched at herself, wanting to feel him once more.  There though in their shared dream she looked up at him.  “What are we to do Ba’al, how do we fix things between us?”  she asked truly wanting what they had, had together back once more.

"Oh yes.  Valentine′s day." He nodded as the memories became a little more clear. "That′s right.  I remember now. "It was still fuzzy, all the holidays seeming to blend together.  When She said that She still had them all, He smiled wide.  He had feared that they all had burned in one of the many times their houses had burned to the ground in the heated fights between them.  The scar on His arm from just one of the fights itched slightly in the real world.  In the dream, He showed no sign of it.  His glamour was gone within the dream though.  His true form always only shown to Her, except when they would go to the Balls in His Home world.  Dropping the Glamour there was part of Tradition.  That had been the first time He′d seen Her true form.

When She didn′t pull away, He was slightly relieved.  He knew She wouldn′t, but feared it at the same time.  Her question caused His gaze to be cast downward, His forehead resting against Hers as His eyes closed.

"I wish I knew..." He whispered, wanting more than anything to just magically have everything perfect again like it really was in the beginning.  When they had reunited, it had felt that way, but over time that renewal had begun to fade once more.  The problems were still hiding in the shadows, lurking, and waiting for another moment to tear them apart. "I guess the best start is to truly let things from the past go.  Both of us."  He spoke a little more confidently now, his eyes opening to Meet Hers. "I will work on My forgiving you for the things You′ve done, and working on fixing the things that I have done to Harm You."  He frowned. "I truly am sorry for the things that I said during our fight.  It was untrue, and uncalled for."  He took a slow breath, holding it a moment before slowly releasing it. "Can You forgive Me for the things I′ve done to You?" He asked, a tone of hopefulness in His voice.  "Can We truly let go of the past?"  His breath held in the real world, anticipating Her response.

Seeing his smile lifted her spirits once more, she was happy she pleased him with having kept his gifts to her safe.  The thoughts of their fights  flooded her, how horrible they had been, her temper always getting the best of her, causing her to lash out setting their home in flames so many times.  The damage to his arm he had done because of her.  She looked to his arm seeing the scar there from it all.  Here in their dream he used no glamour to hide things, he was his true self for her, it was something she had always cherished, something he had shared with her alone.  Her thoughts flitted to the ball in his realm and how she had for the first time shown her true self to him.  He had accepted her for what she was, and thought her to be beautiful all the same.  A soft smile curved her lips once more as she brought her gaze back up to meet his, a frown replacing it just as quickly when his own dropped from hers at her question.

His strained whisper hurt her.  He was just as lost as she was to how to fix things.  She wanted their happy past, before others started to ruin things for them.  They had truly been happy long ago, so many dreams, and wants for their future they planned together, some they made come true, but seemingly it all came with a price to pay.  That price was a big one each time, leaving scars, tearing them apart.  She had died a thousand tiny deaths with each one of them.  Sadness overwhelmed her as she thought of the hit she had put on herself, only to be reborn from the ashes like a fiery phoenix.  Their new beginning had been so wonderful, each day they lived was pure bliss, until the past raised it’s venomous head again.  His voice drew her back from her thoughts, though he sounded confident about what he said, she did not feel it.  Her voice was filled with such hurt and pain as she spoke, her eyes still dead, and cold as he looked to her.  “Do you really think we will be able to truly leave the past behind us, really let it go this time?”

She had been trying for so very long to do just that, but it was a hard feat to accomplish.  His next words almost gave her a bit of hope, though she didn’t truly think he could ever forgive her for her wrong doings.  The unshed tears fell now as she listened to him, the weight in her chest heavier.  Her voice was cracked slightly as she tried her hardest to contain the tears, hurt, and pain she felt.  “I forgive you Ba’al, I have always forgiven you.”  She wiped at the tears wanting them to go away, to stop.  “I keep trying to let go of the past…I really have been trying…it’s just so hard to sometimes…I…I…I just can’t help it at times, I let my insecurities, and my jealousy get the best of me.”  She cleared her throat trying her hardest to compose herself, off in the church she was crying uncontrollably in her sleep.  “Can you ever forgive me for all the hurt I have caused you?....For my horrid temper, and ways?”  It was her turn to hold her breath as she waited to see what he would say.

Both hands moved to cup Her face as the tears began to fall.  His frown deepened as he brushed the tears away with His thumbs gently.  His fingertips moved back to bury themselves into Her hair.  He lifted her chin in His grasp, firm, but still gentle.  His eyes locked on Hers, the faintest hint of green remaining in them.

"I always forgive you in the end.  Some hurts just take longer to heal than others."  His gaze on Her became more focused, eyes narrowing, yet not harsh.  "You are the only woman I have ever truly loved, and the only woman I ever will.  You need to accept that.  Jealousy, and insecurities aside.  It′s Just You.  It′s always been Just you."  He pressed His forehead against Hers firmly, in the dream.  In reality He pressed the book against it. "Understood?" He asked in a firm tone, a hint of a smile forming at the corners of His mouth.  "I am working on the forgiveness every day.  It nags at me constantly, and, yes, my own Jealousy, and insecurities come out once in awhile, and I am sorry for that.  I know that You love Me just as Much as I love You.  I understand when You act the way you do sometimes."  He paused a moment, considering his words carefully.  "Other times I admit that I am baffled, and caught off guard by your assumptions, and line of reasoning.  I promise not to attack though if You do.  We will talk, and work things out reasonably when we both have cool heads.  It seems to work better that way.  when we′re angry, it only seems to make things worse.  Things get said in the heat of the moment, and that′s when the past gets thrown around the most."  He looked back into Her eyes, awaiting Her response.

There was a Knocking on the door in Reality, the dream connection weakening a moment as He began to stir in His sleep.  No, not yet.  There was still so much more that needed to be said.  The knock came again.  Within the dream, He kissed Her softly.

"I will come to You in the real world.  We′ll finish this there." He whispered against Her lips before the door opened, and He was pulled from the dream.  Aidan stood in the doorway, a guard beside Him.  Without a single word spoken, He sat up, and clutched the sketchbook to Himself.  Her ring was held in the other hand so tightly that his knuckles were beginning to turn white.  He pushed through the men, heading through the long glass hallways of the Castle in the Fyre Kingdom.  The neverending light from above brightened the hallways, the look of Flames reflected on Aidan′s confused features.

"I′ll be gone awhile." He said over His shoulder while heading down the hallway.  "You and Del take care of things until I get back."  Before Aidan could respond, He had already made His way outside the castle, and towards the Portal.  Crossing through, He made his way to Her home, finding the church, and remembering where she had lead him from.  Once inside the church, He saw Her, asleep on the alter, her face stained with tears.  Setting the Sketch book on one of the pews, He made His way down the Aisle towards her, and knelt down before Her.

Loosening His fingers, He took the ring with one hand, Her left hand in the other, and placed the ring back on Her finger.  Once it was placed, he leaned down to Kiss Her knuckle before looking back up to Her face.  His hand rested on her cheek, thumb brushing the tears away.  The feel of her skin under His own was always better in reality.  His eyes brightened fully, remaining on Her.

The breath she had been holding was released when his hands cupped her face, as he carefully tried to wipe her tears away.  Her cold dead eyes held a glimpse of hope as he began to speak.  Everything he was saying rang so true, all of it.  She had always known deep down how much he loved her, but her own insecurities got in the way at times making her doubt it.  She listened quietly to everything he said.  She realized at times her way of reasoning was not clear, and misunderstood because she was upset.  It was something she knew she needed to work on, a whole lot.  He was also right that they needed to talk things out when each of them was calmer, so their tempers did not take control of things causing them to rehash the past as they always did.

She was about to respond, agreeing with him when he shimmered before her.  She gasped softly shaking her head.  “No, not yet….”  She pleaded, but he was fading again.  He gave her a quick kiss promising to come to her, then he was gone.  She stood there crying staring at the ivy in her dream, wanting him back with her.  She stayed within the dream wandering aimlessly through the maze of her garden.  Memories flashing, hitting her like a ton of bricks.  How she longed for the same happiness once more that they had had.  In the real world her body stirred from a new chill, one that had entered unexpected, something not quite like the earlier ones, a presence felt, but dismissed as she tried to hold onto the dream, the memories that she cherished so very much.

She shivered again as she felt a warmness in her hand, the warmed metal upon her finger.  She felt his hand on her cheek then, bringing her up and out of her dream she had shared with him.  The feel of his warm, velvet soft lips on her knuckles drew her out completely.  Her eyes fluttered open, focusing on him kneeling there before her, her hand in his, her wedding band back on her finger where it belonged.  She turned her head kissing his hand that he had laid on her wet cheek.  She could taste the saltiness of the tears she had shed in her sleep for him.  A small sparkle lighted her eyes at the sight of him, he was really there with her.  He kept his promise, and really had come for her like he had said he would in their dream they had shared.

She moved then, pulling him up from his kneeling position to her.  “Ba’al…”  her surprise could be heard in her voice.  She bit at her lower lip waiting for him to rise, she needed to hold him, feel him, make sure this wasn’t all just another dream she was having, a dirty trick of her mind, teasing her, only for her to awake in the cold empty church alone.  The warmth she felt told her different, but she had to be sure.  The whole time away from him, even as mad as she was, she longed to be with him.  She had always hated being apart from him for so very long, even when they fought, it was hell on her.  Now to finally have him here with her, it was a dream come true.

Once she woke, and Kissed his hand, he smiled brightly.  Straightening up at her urging, He pulled Her close, and wrapped his arms around her.  The feel of her body against His own was a welcomed one.  He’d missed the feel of her heart against his own, Her breath on His skin, the smell of her hair.  His fingers brushed through the Auburn Locks, the softness calming, and centering him once more.  He would never tire of these moments with her.  The way She had spoken his name had caused an excitement that only She was capable of.  He had only ever known it with Her.  His insides feeling weightless for a moment, almost like He was falling while standing still.

“Ami mela Lle Ma Reine.” He whispered against Her ear before pulling back to est His forehead against Hers. “I promised I would come to you.”He whispered, brushing His lips against Hers.  “I prefer the real world when it comes to time with you.” He added in a hushed whisper before kissing her softly, and letting it linger.  He sifted them to the bedroom to be alone.
