Anubis Osiris: Dogs and Dragons.

(The following takes place during Anubis's reign as Emperor of HOS).

The sun shone down on the Osiris mansion with an intensity that reminded Anubis of his youth in Ancient Egypt. Standing on the balcony, Anubis looked out over the lush green lands surrounding his home. From his arms came a gurgling sound as his young son Kafelle slowly began to wake. Already behind him he could her the pattering of tiny footsteps as Kafelle's sister Ambrosia, who had now embraced her nickname 'Ambie' to the level that she stone faced refused to acknowledge her full name, came charging up the stairs.

Anubis laughed to himself looking down to his baby son "it's like she can just sense that you are awake isn't it my boy?"

The tranquil scene of a few seconds earlier ended as his little girl came barging into the room with the grace and elegance of a rhino on roller skates.

"Daaaaaaddy! Is he? He awake? Is he!?" She shouted out her words falling over themselves. Anubis laughed to himself his eyes filled with love and amusement. "Well if he wasn't before he is now isn't he?"

He knelt down handing Kafelle to his big sister, with their nanny following Anbie into the room a little out of breath. Anubis approached her whispering. "I'll be gone for the day, visiting an old friend. I'm not expecting any complications but if their are any you know how to reach me". He turned back, seeing his children together and smiled warmly.

The journey was long, but Anubis relished in the solitude. He had visited this place on many occasions and yet normally it was at his own will. This time he had been summoned. As he materialised form the sand that he had allowed the winds to carry, he looked up at the dark temple, surrounded by overgrown bush and a damp smell that filled his nostrils. The temple was on no map. It was not to be found on foot or by sight. It was visible and accessible to only those that its creator deemed welcome. Anubis was usually welcome, however today he was required.

Anubis walked up the steps, his eyes glancing down to the moat that surrounded it. This feature looked unusual in such an otherwise Egyptian themed design. His mind cast back to his children, for good reason. He mused how strange that they would find it that anyone could summon him on demand. But then they did not know the importance of the entity within. They had never met, Sobek.

As he stepped into the temple, Anubis shifted into his true form, the large imposing Jackel headed God of the underworld. And yet even in this form, arriving into a dark chamber, he dropped to one knee. "Lord Sobek, I heard your call. Is she safe... Is my daughter...".

He was quickly cut off by a low guttural hissing sound that would have sent chills through any mortal soul. But Anubis knew the language, older even than he himself. "Arise my friend. You need never kneel before me or anyone".

Anubis stood slowly "forgive me old friend, I have learnt a great deal from the humans. The mortals. Humility and respect is something they have taught me to value". He couldn't see much of Sobek in the darkness, just a dark green tail slithering back into the shadows and two piercing red eyes. "Sera... Is she...".

"Your daughter is safe. And she will remain that way as long as all but we believe she is dead. Soon we will free her from her captors but that is not why you were called".

Anubis let out a sigh of relief. Serafelle, born to he and his wife Vandella had been taken at birth, her soul forced into another body. Most believed her dead but as God of the underworld Anubis knew her to be alive. Her soul had not joined those that lay beneath his protection. As God of fertility and life, Sobek could see what he could not and watched over her whilst they planned to save her. But if word reached her captors that her survival was known she would have truly been murdered.

The shadows opened slightly and the massive and ancient Reptile headed God Sobek stepped out from the shadows. "You are here because I need your help, my friend. As I have helped protect your children I need your help in protecting mine".

Anubis was stunned. He did not know of any children. He stepped closer to Sobek. He could see why the ancient Egyptians had thought him to be a crocodile. The biggest reptile they had seen swam the Nile and to them he must have seemed similar. But he was something more ancient, something far more special.

"My friend, I suspect you are not referring to some small Cubs that dwell in those shadows. Nothing has ever been so simple with you" Anubis said with a smile. Who are these children of which you speak?"

Stepping fully out of the shadows the massive creature hid a sadness among the fierce wisdom in his eyes "The Ormr... Orochi". Despite The knowledge Anubis possessed Sobek could see that he did not understand. "What is the word they use... Dragons".

Anubis eyes fell wide open "Dragons? You are their creator? They originate from your flesh?"

"From my flesh, my blood. Mixed with magics of a sort. They were a beautiful legacy that I left to protect over the mortals from the dangers of the demon kind and others. Yet the world changes. The mortals have hunted them to near extinction on one side of the globe whilst trying to create them in their own image elsewhere". A tear fell along his dark scaled cheek. "I may be immortal Anubis, but I never longer know this world. I need you to find the land in which I created them, built half a world from here but with the sand of Egypt and the water of the Nile. I need you to find and liberate Dragonia".

Anubis nodded and moved to turn away before glancing back. "Why me Sobek. You have many who follow you, serve you. Why am I the one that will save your children?"

Sobeks large teeth showed in what would have been in a human a knowing grin. "Actually my old friend, your not. But the one who is... The Golden Dragon...i see them in your smile. I hear them in your thoughts. And when they are ready you will unlock the dragon within them. Give them this".

Anubis took the small golden disk. When he looked up Sobek returned to the shadows. Anubis knew that this meant the discussion was over. "Good bye old friend" he whispered and left the temple.

For months Anubis searched and did indeed find what remained of Dragonia. He kept it guarded but knew not what to do with it. Despite his intensive studies he could not discover the golden dragon in any text or across the globe. Feeling frustration he paced the estate until he walked past his study, seeing the door open. He walked in confused and looked to the desk top. His eyes widened in shock. Where the golden disk had lay, instead lay a strange dragon cuff that looked is if to fit around an Adult ear.

He burst out of his study and towards a nearby guard. "Who has been in my study!" The guard shook, clearly rattled. "My lord I'm sorry I couldn't stop her she just went in".

"Who?" And at once he knew who the golden Dragon was.

Twenty years later

Anubis looked out of the temple Windows looking out over the thriving land of Kingdom Dragonia. Dragons lived in harmony along side humans and other species that had decided to live under the Dragon code of honour and respect for life. "You would be so proud of what your children have become Sobek" he said quietly. "Now it is time for us to share that pride together".

He heard the voice of his daughter Lady Ambrosia, ruler if Dragonia as she approached him. "Daddy, you wanted to see me?"

He smiled "always. But today it is time to give you a gift. A gift from a very old friend of mine". He handed her the ear cuff, which resonated in her hand. He took it from her palm and placed it onto her ear. "For too long you have ruled a people you did not know. But now you will".

Ambrosia looked perplexed then her eyes opened wide. Her arms began to change, taking a golden hue. Scales formed. She looked at first scarred but her fathers smile comforted her. "What's happening daddy?"

Anubis stepped back and knelt on one knee. "You are the Golden Dragon. And now nothing less than life itself flows through you".

The streets fell quiet as a roar both terrifying and beautiful tore through Dragonia and bursting through the sky the Golden Dragon flew for the first time. Both ancient and new. The cheers rang through the streets the dragons took flight, with Dagger, Jacinda and Mahleia falling in behind her. Swarms of other Dragons took to the sky's joining their dance whilst across the globe others such as Philip and Lucinda Temp'elar felt the shift and felt their inner dragon roar in joy.

And stood looking out across it all Anubis watched his daughter fly into the distance, the faint pattering of her wings still no different in his mind to the faint pattering of her footsteps as a child. "Our children are free Sobek" he turned to see Sera behind him smiling, watching her sister in flight. "All of them".
