KOED realms: FENGDU (the ghost city)

The Ghost City of Fengdu, China ~Ruler not known yet~

There is a necropolis called Fengdu modeled after the Chinese Hell in Taoist mythology, built over 1800 years ago. The famous ghost town will become an island once the Three Gorges Dam project is completed. Specifically, part of the ghost town of Fengdu will be submerged, but scenery above the "Door of Hell" will remain.

Fengdu Ghost City is about 110 mile (170 kilometers) downstream from Chongqing Municipality on the north bank of the Yangtze River in the Peoples Republic of China. Fengu Ghost City is a tourist attraction featured along a Yangtze cruise. Fengdu Ghost City is a place to learn about Chinese ghost culture, the afterlife, and to see what the Chinese would call a model of hell.  Fengdu became known as Ghost City in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) when two Imperial court officials married and settled on Ming Mountain to practice Taoist teachings. The couples  surnames combined, Yin and Wang, sounded like King of Hell in Chinese. They supposedly became immortals. Thus was born Fengdu City of Ghosts the hell theme and ghosts culture stuck.

During the Tang Dynasty, a temple was erected on Ming Mountain that depicted life in hell. It displayed demonic images and torture devices, reflecting the idea that good people will be treated well in the afterlife and that bad people will be punished by going to hell. Notice that this photo is of the same temple in Fengdu Ghost City as the first picture, but this is a close-up of details on the roof. Google Translator seemed to fail many times, saying the title of this photo is, Fengdu ghost town   Samsung hundred children in the house roof

Fengdu Ghost City is lined with bizarre statues which lead up to hell.

A little research in the Chinese vision of the afterlife showed that ghosts of the dead must undergo three major tests to enter the netherworld.  These tests have been turned into three of the many attractions in Ghost City. These attraction locations are called \endash  Nothing-To-Be-Done-Bridge, Ghost Torturing Pass, and the Tianzi Son of Heaven Palace. The photographer titled this,  Fengdu ghost town   Bai Wuchang solely on Towards Xiao then good

Underworld General Hosptial

Humans go to hospitals. Animals go to veterinarians. But where do injured, ill, and decapitated demons go? It isn't as if every supernatural being possesses the ability to grow a new limb to replace one that's been hacked off by a demon slayer scumbag. Fear not, fellow vamps, werewolves, and demons, for help has arrived. Three brothers, incubus demons by birth, human in appearance (mostly), have pulled together to make the most of the healing skills common to their species. Welcome to Underworld General Hospital, where sexy demons are doctors, HMOs are non-existent, and the blood bank sometimes doubles as the cafeteria. And you don't even want to know what goes on in the supply closets.  (More to come, work in progress. Rules will follow soon.)

KOED realms: SHEOUL ~ Ruled by Pandora Morningstar ~

SHEOUL ~~RULED BY PANDORA MORNINGSTAR~~

 photo 0f79055d-8c8e-4379-b2c2-93c2f3b11bf9_zpsl2oxz5ap.jpg

The Realm of Sheoul has been called many things throughout time, including Hell and Hades, just to name a couple. However, this Sheoul is not the home of the torture of the deceased, much as the mainstream religions of today claim. Instead, Sheoul is the home to a great and powerful family of demons, reigned over by a man named Memnoch. It is from Sheoul that all demons come from, though they themselves may not realize it or remember their own origins. Sheoul itself seems to be an entity all it’s own, forever changing its layout and surroundings according to the moods of the most powerful creature there.

One can only reach Sheoul if one is of Sheoulian blood, and then that is also only if they can find the portal, located in a maze of passageways and corridors. Even if one were to find this portal, if anyone not of Sheoulian blood were to try to enter Sheoul, they would die upon entering the portal, burnt to an unrecognizable pile of ashes. The only way one not of Sheoulian blood may enter is if they are accompanied by one that is of Sheoulian blood

KOED realms: XILBABA ~ Ruled by Dementra Lucina Lust-St.James~

XIBALBA ~~RULED BY DEMITRA ST. JAMES~~

     photo 14cbc40a-8c37-4efe-8f78-976f34e81265_zpsbpompjmv.jpg

Xibalba /ʃɨˈbɒlbə/, roughly translated as "place of fear", is the name of the underworld in K'iche' Maya mythology, ruled by the Maya death gods and their helpers. In 16th-century Verapaz, the entrance to Xibalba was traditionally held to be a cave in the vicinity of Cobán, Guatemala. According to some of the K'iche' Maya presently living in the vicinity, the area is still associated with death. Cave systems in nearby Belize have also been referred to as the entrance to Xibalba.  Another physical incarnation of the road to Xibalba as viewed by the K'iche' is the dark rift which is visible in the Milky Way.

    Inhabitants

Xibalba is described in the Popol Vuh as a court below the surface of the Earth associated with death and with twelve gods or powerful rulers known as the Lords of Xibalba. The first among the Maya Death Gods ruling Xibalba were Hun-Came (One Death) and Vucub-Came (Seven Death), though Hun-Came is the senior of the two. The remaining ten Lords are often referred to as demons and are given commission and domain over various forms of human suffering: to cause sickness, starvation, fear, destitution, pain, and ultimately death. These Lords all work in pairs and are Xiquiripat (Flying Scab) and Cuchumaquic (Gathered Blood), who sicken people's blood; Ahalpuh (Pus Demon) and Ahalgana (Jaundice Demon), who cause people's bodies to swell up; Chamiabac (Bone Staff) and Chamiaholom (Skull Staff), who turn dead bodies into skeletons; Ahalmez (Sweepings Demon) and Ahaltocob (Stabbing Demon), who hide in the unswept areas of people houses and stabbed them to death; and Xic (Wing) and Patan (Packstrap), who caused people to die coughing up blood while out walking on a road.[4][5] The remaining residents of Xibalba are thought to have fallen under the dominion of one of these Lords, going about the face of the Earth to carry out their listed duties.

    Structure

Xibalba was a large place and a number of individual structures or locations within Xibalba are described or mentioned in the Popol Vuh. Chief among these was the council place of the Lords, the five or six houses that served as the first tests of Xibalba, and the Xibalban ballcourt. Also mentioned are the homes of the Lords, gardens, and other structures indicating that Xibalba was at least a great city.

Xibalba seemed to be rife with tests, trials, and traps for anyone who came into the city. Even the road to Xibalba was filled with obstacles: first a river filled with scorpions, a river filled with blood, and then a river filled with pus. Beyond these was a crossroads where travellers had to choose from among four roads that spoke in an attempt to confuse and beguile. Upon passing these obstacles, one would come upon the Xibalba council place, where it was expected visitors would greet the seated Lords. Realistic mannequins were seated near the Lords to confuse and humiliate people who greeted them, and the confused would then be invited to sit upon a bench, which was actually a hot cooking surface. The Lords of Xibalba would entertain themselves by humiliating people in this fashion before sending them into one of Xibalba's deadly tests.

The city was home to at least six deadly houses filled with trials for visitors. The first was Dark House, a house that was completely dark inside. The second was Rattling House or Cold House, full of bone-chilling cold and rattling hail. The third was Jaguar House, filled with hungry jaguars. The fourth was Bat House, filled with dangerous shrieking bats, and the fifth was Razor House, filled with blades and razors that moved about of their own accord. In another part of the Popol Vuh, a sixth test, Hot House, filled with fires and heat, is identified. The purpose of these tests was to either kill or humiliate people placed into them if they could not outwit the test.

    Downfall of Xibalba

Xibalba was home of a famous ballcourt in which the heroes of the Popol Vuh succumbed to the trickery of the Xibalbans in the form of a deadly, bladed ball, as well as the site in which the Maya Hero Twins outwitted the Xibalbans and brought about their downfall.

According to the Popol Vuh, the Xibalbans at one point enjoyed the worship of the people on the surface of the Earth, who offered human sacrifice to the gods of death. Over the span of time covered in the Popol Vuh, the Xibalbans are tricked into accepting counterfeit sacrifices, and then finally humiliated into accepting lesser offerings from above. Anthropologist Dennis Tedlock has speculated that this version of history may be a Quichean slander on earlier Mayan forms of worship.

The role of Xibalba and the Xibalbans after their great defeat at the hands of the hero twins is unclear, although it seems to have continued its existence as a dark place of the underworld long after.

KOED realms: LYONESSE ~ Ruled by Elpis Riddick- Lust and Richard B. Riddick ~

    KOED-LY (Lyonesse) ~~ RULED BY ELPIS RIDDICK-LUST AND RICHARD B. RIDDICK~~

     photo Lyonesse_zpssrpc2ngl.jpg

    History

The legend of a sunken kingdom appears in both Cornish and Breton mythology. In Christian times it came to be viewed as a sort of Cornish Sodom and Gomorrah, an example of divine wrath provoked by unvirtuous living, although the parallels were limited in that Lyonesse remained in Cornish thought very much a mystical and mythical land, comparable to the role of Tir na nÓg in Irish mythology.

    Geography

Those who may stand on the extreme point of the Land′s End, and, looking over that space where the waters of the Atlantic mix with those of the British Channel, see in the far distance the Scilly Islands, will have to call upon their imagination to conceive that these broad waters roll over a country which has existed within historic time.

A region of extreme fertility, we are told, once united the Scilly Islands with Western Cornwall. A people, known as the Silures, inhabited this tract,--which has been called the Lyonesse, or sometimes Lethowsow,--who were remarkable for their industry and their piety.

The rocks called the Seven Stones are said to mark the place of a large city. Even tradition is silent on the character of this great cataclysm.

     photo 2d21182e-9aef-40b9-90de-0501c7084911_zpsbawr1yro.jpg

Lyonesse was famous for over 140 chapel, cathedrals and churches before it sank. After the rising those buildings were turned into holy and unholy places of knowledge, lore and learning. Closely connected and protected by the Elders of Hy-Brasil, these places have been turned into schools and libraries.

The largest chapel of Lyonesse was turned into The Great Library – it is the seat and domain of The Librarian, who is ruler of Lynonesse. The size of the building is deceiving as its proportions are not bound to the physical appearance.

     photo ff13d071-4bf3-472a-b38a-70abebcf67bd_zpsxm7hqtqj.jpg

The Great Library is an overwhelming structure that rules the scenery of Lyonesse and is filled with thousands of books, scrolls, relics and papers concerning the Lust family, magic, lore and power. It can easily compaired with the Great Library of Alexandria.

By raising the island the trinity of the Elder Island – Avalon, Hy-Brasil and Lyonesse – is restored. Portal have been activated that allow the journey from any given point of the island to either the KOED mainland in Avalon or to Hy-Brasil. The Harrowgates do not allow travel to Lyonesse, but only away from Lyonesse, as safety measure.

    In sea-cold Lyonesse,

When the Sabbath eve shafts down

    On the roofs, walls, belfries

    Of the foundered town,

    The Nereids pluck their lyres

    Where the green translucency beats,

And with motionless eyes at gaze

    Make ministrely in the streets./

    And the ocean water stirs

    In salt-worn casement and porch

    Plies the blunt-nosed fish

With fire in his skull for torch.

    And the ringing wires resound;

    And the unearthly lovely weep,

In lament of the music they make

In the sullen courts of sleep:

Whose marble flowers bloom for aye:

    And—lapped by the moon-guiled tide—

Mock their carver with heart of stone,

    Caged in his stone-ribbed side.

    Government

    The Librarian:

The Librarian had always been the secret ruler of Lyonesse – also called “the lioness”. The 8 houses of the Order of Elders usually appointed The Librarian. Elpis Riddick-Lust - is the official ruler of Lyonesse and in charge of all books. All protective spells are bound to the Librarian. She is warrior, magican and scholar at the same time as she has to protect the extreme amount of knowledge and power stored in KOED’s biggest library.

As there is so much power and knowledge stored and the need to gather information as well as sort it, she has a chosen group of trusted individuals that help her. They are called the Librarians. Elpis Riddick-Lust is the eldest daughter of Michael and Galatea Lust of Hy-Brasil and Goddess of Geysers and Hotsprings.

She has special skill sets as she bears a physical and emotional link to her father, as a living proof of his love to his wife. In her the contrasting concepts of water and fire, heaven and hell, demon and angel unite and struggle. Therefore is her personality is usually very controlled. This explains how decided to devote her love and lust to only one man, despite her demonic heritage.

    The Librarians:

Each Librarian usually brings certain qualities to Lyonesse that help him or her perform their duties. They are usually chosen by the Librarian or sent by one of the 8 houses of the Elders.

    The Guardian:

Each Librarian ruler had a guardian who would be willing to lay their life down for The Librarian and therefore often were the mates of The Librarian.

He is The Guardian, also called “the lion” who is a very important person in a place full of knowledge and power. He protects and advises The Librarian. All guards in every house, school and library is under his command.

Richard B.Riddick was a Furyan orphan, who has started his life fighting against the odds. Once a feared and hunted outlaw, he now has found his home in Hy-Brasil were he took Elpis as is wife.

Still feared for his strength and merciless training, he is no longer a hunted man, but a respected man. A loving husband and father, a fierce fighter and protector in Hy-Brasil who gained his immortality.

    The Order of the Elders:

The Order of the Elders is a group of skilled magic users who are bound to a code of honor. They protect knowledge and pass it on. But they are separated into 8 different houses to part the power their combined knowledge could hold. Each member of the Council of Elders is guardian to one specific book of power. Only The Librarian has access to all books and each house. They are prohibited to interfere with temporal matters or playing favorites with kings to gain influence. They service the rulers of the Elder Isles with advise though.

On Council meetings in Hy-Brasil for example all 8 houses need to be represented or none will be heard.

    The Trinity of Elder Isles

By raising Lyonesse, the trinity of the Elder Isles is restored. The Elder Isles are: Avalon, Hy-Brasil and Lyonesse. With that old technical devices that channel and control magical energy have been revived and artifacts activated.

Part of the recent task of the Librarians, Elpis and Richard is to find relics that have been strewn all over the globe to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

KOED realms: HY-BRASIL ~ Ruled by Michael and Galatea Lust ~

KOED -HyB (Hy-Brasil) ~~RULED BY MICHAEL AND GALATEA LUST~~

    History

     photo d6443976-efcf-4208-92fe-9ed99e8ecd96_zpsfdw4l2xq.jpg

The island has been visited by many people for centuries and was also called “The Blessed Isle”, especially by the Galater who believed their goddess dwelt there. Both Saint Barrind and Saint Brendan found the island on their respective voyages, and returned home with nearly identical descriptions of Hy-Brasil, which they dubbed the “Promised Land.” One of the most famous visits to Hy-Brasil was in 1674 by Captain John Nisbet of Killybegs, Co. Donegal, Ireland. He and his crew were in familiar waters west of Ireland, when a fog came up. As the fog lifted, the ship was dangerously close to rocks. While getting their bearings, the ship anchored in three fathoms of water, and four crew members rowed ashore to visit Hy-Brasil. They spent a day on the island, and returned with silver and gold given to them by an old man who lived there. Upon the return of the crew to Ireland, a second ship set out under the command of Alexander Johnson. They, too, found the hospitable island of Hy-Brasil and returned to Ireland to confirm the tales of Captain Nisbet and crew. The last documented sighting of Hy-Brasil was in 1872, when author T. J. Westropp and several companions saw the island appear and then vanish. This was Mr. Westropp’s third view of Hy-Brasil, but on this voyage he had brought his mother and some friends to verify the existence of Hy-Brasil.

     photo original_zps2foclzbx.jpg

The island was said to rise from the ocean or be revealed from the fog shrouding it every seven years. It did indeed rise from the ocean before Michael and Galatea took rule over the island. Since then only the fog has shrouded the island from view, although it is lifted at need whenever expected visitors approach.

    Geography

     photo islandOfMist_zpsuuxufrj9.jpg

Hy-Brasil is situated west of the Southern part of Ireland. Tales and legend has it that the island can be found sailing west from the Ring of Kerry or Galway. Old maps depict the island as a small circular island that is parted by a big river. Shallow-water shells have been found at Porcupine Bank, somewhat northwest of the most likely location of Hy-Brasil. Even further north, similar shells were discovered at Rockhall. So, there is evidence of land mass changes in that part of the Atlantic Ocean. The most distinctive geographical feature of Hy-Brasil is that it appears on maps as a perfect circle, with a semi-circular channel through the center.

     photo landscape_zpsbifpgnjj.jpg

The river parting the Western and Eastern part of Hy-Brasil is called the Black River due to the black and red sands that the rivers carry from flowing through certain areas of Hy-Brasil. It’s origin are a multitude of fresh water springs situated on the North Eastern and Western side of the island, where they flow down to the ocean, carrying fertile red sand with them. They mix with sea water and the water of many hot springs that form a flat, volcanic area towards the North. Here the black volcanic ashes and ground is eroded. The red and black sands are very fertile which might explain the lush and overwhelming amount of flowers, trees and crops on the island. That led to the name the Blessed Isle too.

     photo flygeyser_zpsbevals0a.jpg

Where the waters running from the Northern hills meet the volcanic area lots of geysers and hot springs add to the mythical mist that hides the island from unfriendly eyes and unwelcome visitors. Partially the hot springs are fed by fresh water and ocean water, due to the cavern beneath this part of the island. It is speculated that the volcanic activity of the island as well as the climate change over the eons caused the rise and fall of the island, but the constant shroud of mist hiding the island against the horizon more than likely is the main reason why Hy-Brasil has not been discovered more often by passing sailors from the main European continent.

The Western and Eastern coast alike are characterized by steep falling cliffs. The Western shore falls towards the Black River, which means that this area receives a lot of rain and holds the most fertile farmlands of the island.

The Eastern coast rises steep from the ocean and is unfriendly to approach. On its far Southern peak a watchtower guides the way into the calm and shallow waters of the mouth of the Black River and the largest harbor of Hy-Brasil. Despite the height of the Eastern plateau springs can be found here that feed a few lakes and smaller rivers that cascade down the Eastern cliffs at some places. Where these waterfalls and the rough ocean currents meet vapor rises also, which adds to the distinct fog shrouding the island.

     photo tws3d-watchtower-2--1024x768_zpsey4hxgiw.jpg

Upon the Eastern shore of the Black River lies also the largest city of Hy-Brasil, Cimeria, just below the Watchtower and not far from the friendly beaches of the Southern coast of Hy-Brasil.

    Climate/Ecology

The climate of Hy-Brasil lacks seasons for the most part even though it could well be described as oceanic. The Gulf Stream carries warm waters past the Eastern and Southern coast and the volcanic activity in the North ensures a steady mild climate.

The summers in Hy-Brasil are mild, rarely hot and it rains regularly. Spring and fall seem to lack completely. Winters can be cool, but usually lack frost and snow. Only the highest point and most Northern regions know snowfall, which doesn’t cover the ground for long though. Winters can be very rainy though.

     photo Gardens-1_zpskr6vos1u.jpg

Due to the mild climate, fertile grounds and consistent amount of rain the island the vegetation is evergreen and trees as well as flowers steadily bear blossoms and fruit at the same time. This caused many of the legendary tales that the trees of Hy-Brasil were ever in blossom and the flowers carried jewels.

     photo image-45_zpscpdnycr7.jpg

Farmlands produce crops all year round and livestock grows fat and healthy on the evergreen pastures of the lands.

Upon the cliffs of the Eastern and Western coast many seabirds breed. The waters around Hy-Brasil strive from the constant flow of small organisms that live in the Gulf Stream, so the waters are full of fish. A curiosity is the high amount of cetae living in Hy-Brasil’s waters, which is likely due to the Lady of Hy-Brasil as well as the so called “Daughters of Hy-Brasil”.

    Economy

The inhabitants of Hy-Brasil are mostly farmers and fishermen, although everyone in Hy-Brasil shows hospitality to the guests coming to the island. The larger settlements house lots of training facilities as well as accommodations for those coming to the island for rest, retreat and recovery.

Main source of income export in Hy-Brasil are the trade of seafood, crops and livestock, but also medical care, wellness and physical training. Guano and seabird feathers are another trade item of the island. A mild form of tourism adds to the income. Indeed some of the trees of Hy-Brasil produce gem like fruit that are sold for making jewelry and glassware. Silver and gold are found in the Black River and in the caverns below the islands formed by volcanic activity; both metals are traded too, but also source of the wealth of even common people.

     photo HearstCastle_20111206_052_zps1rdotqyr.jpg

Due to the wealth of goods and food the inhabitants of Hy-Brasil enjoy culture and education so that even the simple farmer has access and time to education. The school system consists of a primary school, which takes care of smaller children from age 5 to 12 and is followed by secondary education from 13 to 16. After that the most skilled students can join the Council of the Wise and become learners of lore there.

Overall the people of Hy-Brasil are relaxed and open minded to all visitors, no matter their origin and nature. Therefore population consists of all sorts of species from demonic realms to heavens, but mostly simply people whose decent is from Atlantis, Avalon and the European continent.

    Government

Hy-Brasil is ruled by the Lord and Lady of Hy-Brasil, Michael and Galatea Lust. A small of group of advisors and elders from the settlements on Hy-Brasil give council to the family. As the island is rather small and has only few inhabitants there is no need for a larger council.

In Cimeria however sits the council of the wise, which takes care of the schools and tends to the libraries of the island as well as medical research. Their medical masters offer their aid to everyone in Hy-Brasil, receiving their pay from the gathered taxes.

The capitol also holds the largest training facility of the island, famed for the excellent training of warriors. The guards trained there are directly commanded by the Lord of Hy-Brasil or his son. The best fighters and warriors, that have proven their worth in the guard, are then called to the “Round Table of KOED”, making them knights of the realm.

The “Daughters of Hy-Brasil” take care of different aspects and regions of the island, depending on their skills and preferences. They all serve the Lord and Lady as councilors and bring word from their region to court, tending to the matters of each region as a guardian and councilor.

    Religion

Due to the variety of inhabitants there are several temples that are taken care of by the “Daughters of Hy-Brasil”.  Just outside of Cimeria a temple can be found that serves the worship of water deities, including the Lady of Hy-Brasil.

KOED realms: LEMURIA ~ Ruled by Morgana Lust ~

    LEMURIA ~~RULED BY MORGANA LUST~~

Lemuria /lɨˈmjʊəriə/ is the name of a hypothetical "lost land" variously located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The concept's 19th century origins lie in attempts to account for discontinuities in biogeography; however, the concept of Lemuria has been rendered obsolete by modern theories of plate tectonics. Although sunken continents do exist – like Zealandia in the Pacific as well as Mauritia and the Kerguelen Plateau in the Indian Ocean – there is no known geological formation under the Indian or Pacific Oceans that corresponds to the hypothetical Lemuria - except Sundaland.

     photo 0bb94f49-abfd-46e1-b4fc-10f08f211af9_zps31400065.jpg

Though Lemuria is no longer considered a valid scientific hypothesis, it has been adopted by writers involved in the occult, as well as some Tamil writers of India. Accounts of Lemuria differ, but all share a common belief that a continent existed in ancient times and sank beneath the ocean as a result of a geological, often cataclysmic, change, such as pole shift.

In 1864 the zoologist and biogeographer Philip Sclater wrote an article on "The Mammals of Madagascar" in The Quarterly Journal of Science. Using a classification he referred to as lemurs but which included related primate groups, and puzzled by the presence of their fossils in both Madagascar and India but not in Africa or the Middle East, Sclater proposed that Madagascar and India had once been part of a larger continent. He wrote:

The anomalies of the Mammal fauna of Madagascar can best be explained by supposing that ... a large continent occupied parts of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans ... that this continent was broken up into islands, of which some have become amalgamated with ... Africa, some ... with what is now Asia; and that in Madagascar and the Mascarene Islands we have existing relics of this great continent, for which ... I should propose the name Lemuria!

Sclater's theory was hardly unusual for his time: "land bridges", real and imagined, fascinated several of Sclater's contemporaries. Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, also looking at the relationship between animals in India and Madagascar, had suggested a southern continent about two decades before Sclater, but did not give it a name. The acceptance of Darwinism led scientists to seek to trace the diffusion of species from their points of evolutionary origin. Prior to the acceptance of continental drift, biologists frequently postulated submerged land masses in order to account for populations of land-based species now separated by barriers of water. Similarly, geologists tried to account for striking resemblances of rock formations on different continents. The first systematic attempt was made by Melchior Neumayr in his book Erdgeschichte in 1887. Many hypothetical submerged land bridges and continents were proposed during the 19th century, in order to account for the present distribution of species.

After gaining some acceptance within the scientific community, the concept of Lemuria began to appear in the works of other scholars. Ernst Haeckel, a German Darwinian taxonomist, proposed Lemuria as an explanation for the absence of "missing link" fossil records. According to another source, Haeckel put forward this thesis prior to Sclater (but without using the name "Lemuria"). Locating the origins of the human species on this lost continent, he claimed the fossil record could not be found because it sunk beneath the sea.

     photo lemuria_zpseecykqnt.jpg

Other scientists hypothesized that Lemuria had extended across parts of the Pacific oceans, seeking to explain the distribution of various species across Asia and the Americas.

    J. H Moore writing in his book Savage Survivals (1933) wrote:

It is believed that man evolved somewhere in southern Asia, or possibly, still further south than the present boundary of Asia, in lands now drowned by the Indian Ocean. This supposed land is called Lemuria.

    Superseded

The Lemuria theory disappeared completely from conventional scientific consideration after the theories of plate tectonics and continental drift were accepted by the larger scientific community. According to the theory of plate tectonics (the current accepted paradigm in geology), Madagascar and India were indeed once part of the same landmass (thus accounting for geological resemblances), but plate movement caused India to break away millions of years ago, and move to its present location. The original landmass broke apart – it did not sink beneath sea level.[citation needed]

In 1999, drilling by the JOIDES Resolution research vessel in the Indian Ocean discovered evidence that a large island, the Kerguelen Plateau, was submerged about 20 million years ago by rising sea levels. Samples showed pollen and fragments of wood in a 90-million-year-old sediment. Although this discovery might encourage scholars to expect similarities in dinosaur fossil evidence, and may contribute to understanding the breakup of the Indian and Australian land masses, it does not support the concept of Lemuria as a land bridge for mammals.

In 2013, the study of grains of sand from the beaches of Mauritius lead to the conclusion that a similar landmass would have existed between 2,000 and 85 million years ago.

    Blavatsky, Elliot, and Bramwell

Map of Lemuria superimposed over the modern continents from Scott-Elliott's The Story of Atlantis and Lost Lemuria.

Lemuria entered the lexicon of the Occult through the works of Helena Blavatsky, who claimed to have been shown an ancient, pre-Atlantean Book of Dzyan by the Mahatmas. Lemuria is mentioned in an 1882 Mahatma letter to A.P. Sinnett. According to L. Sprague de Camp, Blavatsky's concept of Lemuria was influenced by other contemporaneous writers on the theme of Lost Continents, notably Ignatius L. Donnelly, American cult leader Thomas Lake Harris and the French writer Louis Jacolliot.

Within Blavatsky's complex cosmology, which includes seven "Root Races", Lemuria was occupied by the "Third Root Race", described as being about 7 feet (2.1 m) tall, sexually hermaphroditic, egg-laying, mentally undeveloped and spiritually more pure than the following "Root Races". Before the coming of the Lemurians, the second "Root Race" is said to have dwelled in Hyperborea. After the subsequent creation of mammals, Mme Blavatsky revealed to her readers, some Lemurians turned to bestiality. The gods, aghast at the behavior of these "mindless" men, sank Lemuria into the ocean and created a "Fourth Root Race" – endowed with intellect – on Atlantis.

One of the most elaborate accounts of lost continents was given by the later theosophical author William Scott-Elliot. The English theosophist received his knowledge from Charles Webster Leadbeater, who communicated with the Theosophical Masters by "astral clairvoyance". In 1896 he published The Story of Atlantis, followed in 1904 by The Lost Lemuria, in which he included a map of the continent of Lemuria as stretching from the east coast of Africa across the Indian and the Pacific Oceans.

James Bramwell described Lemuria in his book, Lost Atlantis, as "a continent that occupied a large part of what is now the South Pacific Ocean." Bramwell described the people of Lemuria in detail and attributed them with being one of the "root-races of humanity." According to Bramwell, Lemurians are the ancestors of the Atlanteans, who survived the period "of the general racial decadence which affected the Lemurians in the last stages of their evolution." From "a select division of" the Atlanteans – after their promotion to decadence – Bramwell claims the Aryan race arose. "Lemurians, Atlanteans, and Aryans are root-races of humanity", according to Bramwell.

    Lemuria and Mount Shasta

In 1894, Frederick Spencer Oliver published A Dweller on Two Planets, which claimed that survivors from a sunken continent called Lemuria were living in or on Mount Shasta in northern California. Oliver claimed the Lemurians lived in a complex of tunnels beneath the mountain and occasionally were seen walking the surface dressed in white robes.

This belief has since been repeated by Guy Warren Ballard, followers of the Ascended Masters and the Great White Brotherhood, and Bridge to Freedom, The Summit Lighthouse, Church Universal and Triumphant, and Kryon.

    Kumari Kandam and Lemuria

"Lemuria" in Tamil nationalist mysticist literature, connecting Madagascar, South India and Australia (covering most of the Indian Ocean).

Some Tamil writers such as Devaneya Pavanar have tried to associate Lemuria with Kumari Kandam, a legendary sunken landmass mentioned in the Tamil literature, claiming that it was the cradle of civilization.

RULES and Mission Statement of KOED by Desdemona Lust

    Mission Statement

Kingdom of Erotic Desires is dedicated to providing a place for all beings to find a place when they have none to go to. We will strive to implement a long term relationship with our members, based on providing for all their needs and their desires to strive farther in this kingdom and beyond. To help fulfill this mission, we will treat all members fairly and involve them in the quality improvement process to insure responsiveness and have an equal say within the kingdom on issues.

Rules of KINGDOM OF EROTIC DESIRES.

    1. Respect of your fellow roleplayers within this kingdom, . This is the following things you should do to respect all who are here to write (don't have to but I would like to see it among the members to form a stronger bond):

**Communicate from your heart; solve problems from your head
a hello is worth a million times more than silence.

**Be kind to others. Treat people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity out of char

**Every action brings about a reaction

**Learn to ask for help in rp if you feel overwhelmed or perhaps a little writers block on a reply

**Show people you care by listening to them and trying to understand a point of view that may not seem right to you.

**Give compliments freely. An encouraging word at the right moment brings out the best in people. so if the writing is good say it is, a pic is say so.

**Being right is different from acting righteous

**Balance your role play with your real life so you have a moment or so to yourself just to reflect.

    **Laugh often

**Show patience with other peoples flaws.....not everyone is perfect. don't expect it.

**Take time to evaluate your own attitude and actions....

**Make amends when you are wrong

**Learn to forgive yourself and others

**Be compassionate towards others, demonstrating your support in difficult times

**Build shared goals; be a team player with your fellow roleplayers
saying thank you goes a long way.

**Remember that listening something that will take you far

    2. Respect of the Queen of this kingdom. if you are in the kingdom she is the only one that you should have on your list.......the rest are in another rule. But always show respect for her, if you do not like something come to her, and speak, it will be fixed somehow

    3. Others within the kingdom......if you are a member you have the right to add who you want in the kingdom you do not have to add everyone just the queen,  and maybe the kingdom page.  This is your char,  it is your choice. We do not punish if you wish to not have some in our kingdom on your page.

    4. drama (ooc/rp/rl drama and issues with IM's/cybering)......this here we are talking about RL drama not RP drama as long as the rp drama is done in a story line that can be followed.....if you can not do that do not bring the drama to the kingdom.....this rule is: if you can't fix this problem between yourselves in a respectable manner (aka not bring this drama into statuses, or bullies or worse other people's status) then you may call upon the queen......the queen will ask proof be presented to her, if this is an ooc matter, messages, im's or even comments will be requested to be sent to the queen for reading from both parties......if you can not present this proof and give the "oh I deleted it" response then it shall be dismissed as untrue claim and not heard of again....

    5. any issues are brought to the queen first before any words are exchanged between people... This is to ensure all the facts are in place and there is no mistake on the issue this includes issues in side the kingdom and outside.

    6. many have multiple chars, so if you know that person has many different chars treat each and everyone of them like they are a different person. so, if one char said something against another... if that char is NOT in the kingdom that is not a kingdom issue. Keep it with that char. Yes you can stick up for your friends...but remember that char you are talking to at that moment is NOT a kingdom char. This alone will cut down unneeded drama down. and in some cases you can turn it into an sl that can give you some writing.

This rule will also include other websites, so if you have a Mary Lou Freebush in our kingdom.....which is only on Fandomain! we do not have KOED in any other website, We are a Fandomain only kingdom now. So you got Mary Lou Freebush here.... she is in our kingdom...and you know Tom Harrydick over on there who is with Jessie Comealong, here.... but you get all pissy because you have a char named Peggy Lou Rottoncrotch either here, or on another Rp website or even both.... and you are messing around with Tom Harrydick with your Peggy Lou Rottoncrotch or you two are a couple on another website, It is not okay to cross chars in our kingdom! do not attack that person with a different char of yours, MEANING: if that person did something to your Rottoncrotch char it is not okay to use your kingdom char of freebush to try to cause drama, or even attack someone.... or even a couple. What you do on your other char is not my concern! I am concern with your KOED char only.... and the drama you cause under that banner! So... do not cross your chars or even websites, I do not give a flying fuck who or what happens with what ever chars on another website, do you understand me!? This is Fandomain here.... that is our verse. If any of you do not understand any of this or you have a problem with keeping with the rules of the kingdom, you may message me, and let me know that you no longer wish to be in our kingdom.... Family is never disowned. ever! so if you chose to leave our kingdom you are still family, but I have no say over you.... I will only handle what is being done in my kingdom.... you are free to visit and such...

These are set in the rules of the main kingdom page, you were all asked to read over them, and if you didn't well that is on you for it is stated in our bylaws. I will be discussing with Randy, Michael and Gala through out the next two weeks, we will be updating all laws, and putting in some punishments for those who brake them. Right now... I am posting this as a warning to everyone..... DO NOT CROSS CHARS IN MY KINGDOM.

    7. Membership.......Right now due to how the new home is, those who wish to join the kingdom may come and speak to the queen.  If we get a bit bigger then a new application will be posted.

    8. relationships......respect the relationships within the kingdom no matter if they are open, closed, half and half sideways or upside down what ever the parties involved choose for their relationships is their choice and you do not have a right to put it down or even try to brake it up (unless it has been talked to all the parties involved) so respect

    9. Fighting........if you wish to do an rp fight please ooc the other person to set up the fighting (even wars should be set up like this to do it within rp rules please) set up rules and do so within an area of agreement.....(if just two people comments or messages will work if a group blog is needed but needs to be agreed upon on who's page.)
these rules are set for now......in time more might be added or even changed when needed thank you
