Gregory, portrayed by Xander Berkeley, is the leader of the Hilltop Colony. He accepted the deal from the Saviors and later tried to break that deal with Rick′s help. He was stabbed by Ethan under Negan′s orders but he survived. He is seen by everyone as a great coward. Reluctantly, he ends up taking in Sasha and Maggie after Negan′s ambush. He never calls Maggie by the correct name and scoffs at the idea that Maggie and Sasha could be useful. He almost gave up their hiding space to Simon in "Go Getters," but Jesus, not trusting him to honor their agreement, had moved the women elsewhere. In "Rock in the Road," Gregory refuses to assist Rick in the oncoming fight against the Saviors and is greatly criticized by the combined communities. He is visiting the Sanctuary to prove his loyalty when the combined Alexandrian forces attack and only narrowly escapes when Gabriel stops to help him. When he gets back to the Hilltop, Maggie throws him in the pen with the Savior hostages. Gregory later becomes a messenger between Dwight and the Hilltop, warning the later of Negan′s next plan. This plan turns out to be faked, as Negan knew Dwight had betrayed the Saviors and that Gregory was his messenger.
