Inara Serra, for most of her life, she had been a companion. That meant she was extremely respected wherever she went. She had a life of luxury and once she boarded the cargo ship, Serenity, she got to expand her clients and travel the entire verse. It wasn't a terrible life. But her time on board Serenity changed her, as did the relationships she formed with the crew, especially the captain. Malcolm Reynolds was arrogant and rude. And he repeatedly loved to call her a whore. But yet he would fight anyone else who dared talk to her that way. It was confusing but in the end they both realized the constant arguing and name calling between them was due to the fact that they were in love and didn't know how to say it. That quickly changed. Now they were in a relationship and the name calling lightened up some.

Not only had her relationship status changed but so had her profession. She no longer worked for the companions guild due to her being involved in criminal activities on board Serenity. So now she was just part of the crew, the one that could still get to planets Mal normally couldn't have access too. Mostly the core plants like Osiris, Ariel or Persephone. Persephone was the current location for a job. Badger supposedly had some work for Mal. Though working for him rarely ever worked out right. But they needed money for supplies and he was the only one hiring at the moment.

Once on world, Mal and some crew went to talk to Badger, leaving the others to do as they please. Inara took the opportunity to head to the local shopping center to pick up some clothing and food with the little money they had. Due to how popular of a companion she had been, most stored gave her a decent discount. In the market, Inara began gathering some produce until she heard a voice addressing her. Turning her head she looked around for who the voice belonged to
