Paladin Scum
Category: Uncategorized

Sura looked to the ring box with narrowed eyes. "A gift....to honor a future Queen," the man said as he held out the ring. Sura knew better than to trust a Paladin. Especially one bearing gifts. "And what is the price for this...gift?" She asked speculatively as she reluctantly reached for the box. "Not a thing. Can a man not present a lovely young woman with a trinket to honor her? I apologize for not being able to present it at your Ascension." He asked with a casual shrug. Suras jaw clenched lightly as she took the blue velvet box into her hand. The Paladins had long been rivals of her family line....Both on the same mission, to destroy monsters and protect the world. Paladins didn't care about collateral damage or innocents while Helsings fought to minimize the damage and protect as many innocents as possible. Paladins saw all immortal or magical beings as heretics and demons. Hellsings knew that just because you were born different, didn't make you a monster.

Sura held the box as she looked up at him. "Thank you." She said as she took a step back towards the house. She had been walking home from the shop when the Paladin had made himself known. "I trust you will guide your Organization into the future. To greatness. These streets darken with each new day. I would hate to see your people fall to ruin out of ignorance." He said, a hint of something darker to his words as he spoke. Suras eyes narrowed slightly as she opened her mouth to speak. But he held his hands up with a charming smile. "I meant no offense. It was merely an observation, my Lady. Your predecessors were rather....short sighted of the end game...seeking short term solutions to long term problems. But I have heard great things about you...and as a Daughter of War, I'm sure you will see the errors of those ways and bring your line to the right path." He continued as she suppressed a growl.

This was no heart felt gesture. No attempt at peace. This...was a warning. Sura could smell the threat. She forced herself to smile as she tilted her head. "Yes, well....let's hope we all have a better future for everyone. I really should get inside now. Its been a long day and I have studying to do. It was nice meeting you." She said politely as she moved around him. "Of course, I didn't mean to keep you. Do have a pleasant evening, my dear. Perhaps we will meet again another day." The Paladin said with a grin before he bowed at the waist and walked away. Sura watched him go before she went into the house. Sura shut the door before she looked to the box. She was reluctant to open it. She swallowed hard before she hesitantly opened it. She felt a moment of relief when she saw the simple silver ring inside the velvet box.

She reached for it. But the moment she removed it, a large puff of dust came up with it and slammed into her face. She coughed as felt it enter her nostrils and dropped the box. The ring clattered as she felt the room blur around her and her hands went to her face as she staggered. "Shit!" Sura cursed as she stumbled, coughing as the felt the fine dust coat her throat and nostrils and rubbed her eyes to try and clear her vision. But nothing worked. "Mom! Dad!" She stumbled towards the sound of the fountain to try and find something, anything to clear her vision as it darkened to nothing.
