Preparing the girls for Athens
Category: Uncategorized

Helen was every bit the inner twin her brothers represented in the stars. She had called on Castor and Pollux now to help her because she worried for her children in ways she never did herself. Helen lived her life before having a family in a wild and carefree way, she was the type of woman to have drinks with a stranger in a dark bar and bring him home that night ready to see no more of him the next day. That was how she met her husband, and meeting Baldur had put an end to her careless living but not the fact she worried more for others then she ever did herself.

The calls for war had been steady and strong and she understood why. As a child raised in Sparta it was hard to reconcile her natural predisposition for war and desire to be the best and wanting her family safe. There was this part of Helen, deeply hidden, that wished more of their conflicts were handled with steel. But she never made a call for it because she loved her husband, and she couldn’t mesh the two idea of wanting to solve things in the most final of ways and putting her husband in danger. Leda and Thestius had raised her like a true spartan and not till she had her own family did she second guess any of their teachings.

Now in Breiđablik she weighed her options and called on her brothers for help. She would remain, because Baldur was fighting, and someone had to stay behind. But she wanted her children far away from these things. She knew better then to ask her sons to sit things out, so all she could hope for was protecting her daughters. Callia and Rena both boasted protectors but they were also apart of Thors berserkers and so Helen knew that was a calling they couldn't ignore. So her own brothers were going to help her to get her three daughters to her sister Clytemnestra in Athens. Clytemnestra and Theseus could look after them far away from the reach of Sven and The unworthy son of Odin, and worst yet The Maker. Plagues on their lives she wanted them gone and would admit to herself she hoped this war would cut them all down.

Helen had tasked her two older girls with packing and she sat with Eos, deciding on things she would like to show to her aunt on their trip. Helen made no mention of war, battle or anything scary near her daughter. For her she gushed about how she had loved playing on the shores of Greece when she was Eos' age, and how much fun she would have meeting more members of their family. She knew Castor and Pollux, her uncles, would be taking them and making sure they were safe on their journey, and that when she could mommy would come to pick her up. Helen tried to sell it as a vacation because she didn't want her baby to worry, and even allowed her to bring her pet dragon with her.

“I promise, Ike will have fun. Hes going to be able to keep you both cool with all that ice he breaths, and there's so much water and beaches and caves you two will have fun for hours. And you know Callia will explore with you,” she said kissing away the pout that spread because her parents weren't taking the trip with her. “You'll see soon you wont even want to come home your going to love Athens so much.” The work of packing Helen wanted to last much longer then it did. She was miserable knowing her babies would be so far away. But she didn't let any of that show, she wanted them to have fun, enjoy their time and not worry like she would for Baldur and the others who would spend this time not soaking in the sun but fighting in the Asgardian Winter.
