KOED-LY: Fighting for Control (storyline between Richard B. Riddick and Elpis Riddick-Lust

Elpis had acted strangely of late. The only times she seemed to be more or less calm were the moments she spent in the home she and Richard had made in the North of Hy-Brasil. His strong arm had been wrapped around her all night and she had found sleep, while the voices in her head for once died down.

She kept telling herself that it was the stress of rebuilding the library and Lyonesse, as well as the excitement of the iniation as ruler of Lyonesse. Some of the Elders now in charge of the age old houses had been in a magical slumber and had come to her to tell her about Lyonesse and the houses. It was just too much lately and pregnancy hormones were tossed in with the mix. Whenever she faced another sudden bout of anger and burst out she later excused it just like this. She didn’t feel fully herself and would be alright once all this stress ended.

Richard woke next to her and was immediately awake, while she had been lingering half asleep on her own thoughts.

He smiles kissing her cheek turning to look at the clock. "Let’s go shower and go get breakfast before we start the day"

She smiled and grumbled a little. "Your embrace feels so good, Richard." But she felt the need to get up too and knew he was in need of breakfast for sure. "Ok, shower and breakfast. A big breakfast - for my husband, me and our baby."

Richard smiles kissing her as he pulled out rubbing her arm. "Boy or girl?" He sat up and heads to the bathroom.

She rolled to the side and leaned onto her hand to watch him. When he mentioned the baby she placed her hand over her belly and relaxed. After a silent moment she sat up and followed him, leaning in the doorframe to the bathroom. "I actually don′t know. We had both and if I think about the family history then I would say it is a girl. But I can′t tell yet."

He turns around looking at her and walks over to her once the water was running and getting warm and kisses her lips. "I don’t care if it’s a boy or girl I will love them"

Elpis looked up at her strong, tall husband and smiled. "I know you will, Richard." She caressed his cheek when he kissed her and then held his shoulders to turn him towards the water. "Shower. Now. I’ll join you if I must, but you need to get under the water to shower. If you keep kissing me like this then we’ll never get breakfast." She laughed and had to fight hard not to give in the the urge to just jump into his arms before he reached the shower.

Riddick laughs. "I’m walking no need to rush and what’s the rush anyways?" He laughs again getting under the warm water.

She loved his laugh and grinned. "You need food still and I am getting hungry too." She paused and chuckled. "For food, you know I am always hungry for you. I am just trying to be reasonable." She followed him stood at the edge of the shower when he got into it.

 "You know you can’t keep your hands off but if it wasn’t for you wanting food and me needing to go to work we wouldn’t be leaving the room and showering"

She frowned at his mention of work. "We’ll need to discuss baby names. You know that." She stepped into the shower with him and looked up while rubbing soap over his chest. "I like the names Moira and Rian." She watched how bubbles of foam and water ran down his muscular body and purred just from watching her husband.

"Already? We don’t even know the sex yet and you want baby names?" He steps into the warm water looking at her. "Let’s call the baby pancakes?" He laughs shaking his head. "Well those sound good I don′t mind those names seeing that I don’t have any names to give out."

Elpis laughed and shook her head. "You are such a smartass sometimes, Richard." She followed him into the shower, still laughing. "Pancakes? I might call you pancakes. You know as well as I do that our children tend to grow surprisingly fast sometimes or dreadfully slow. Depending on the point of view." She sighed and began to rub soap between her hands which she then spread over his body lovingly. "Blame it on my meddling with the fabric of time or simply that they have demon genes."

"It’s all you im the angel in the family" he laughs feeling her rub his body with soap.

"Yeaaaahhhh, suuuurrreeee." She grinned when he called himself an angel. Playful teasing, joking and bickering was part of their routine and both knew it was just fun and games that added to the spark between them. "Who had a price on his handsome head when I met him? And who has the soul of an angel again?" She continued to rub soap lavishly over his body and traced his muscles with a grin.

"Yes I did have a price on my head but that was due to me doing angelic things like feeding the poor and or saving someone′s ass"

She smiled and kissed his lips softly. "You know that you are my light, babe." Her eyes were deep blue and full of love. During the last days she had felt raging anger and more often than ever her temper had driven her. But not so right now, his mere presence was enough to balance her out. "I love you, Richard."

He looks at her looks into her eyes. "Yea I love you to red head" he reached for her stomach laying his hand on her belly.

She smirked when he called her red head. "Yes, we need names." She placed her hand over his on her belly. "My angel of a husband."

"Now you’re just abusing the title" he smirks kissing her lips.

"I do what?" For a moment her eyes turned red in anger that flared up. But his kiss soothed her and she was back to normal.

"What the hell was that? I never seen your eyes like that before?"

"Anger. My parents and sibling could tell you crazy tales." She looked down and felt a nagging small voice whispering in her head and a ball of anger forming. She quickly leaned against his chest and inhaled to take in his scent and focus on it.

"Anger? What the hell are you talking about did I say something to upset you.”

"I don′t even know anymore." She looked at him. "It seems I can′t control my anger lately." Suddenly her eyes turned red again. "But why would that be your business, you likely said something to get me mad." She pulled free and slammed her hand against the wall.

He looks at her raising a brow "what the hell does that mean? Want to slam shit go take a walk." He shuts the water off grabbing a towel and wraps it around his waist and heads out.

Suddenly her eyes turned blue again and whatever seemed to have had hold of her a minute before lost control for a moment. "Richard, please, no." Her voice was quiet and afraid.

He was getting dress putting on his boots and heads down to the kitchen grabbing a bottle of soda and heads to the back yard.

Elpis rubbed her temples, her eyes rapidly changing from red to blue. Anger and fear boiled up in mere seconds, when she slowly realized that she wasn′t fully herself. She struggled to keep the fear and voices in her head under control. It was a dangerous and rallying whisper that wanted her to burn, to go up in flames of anger. She just tossed a sweater over and put some shorts on before she headed down, still fighting internally between the both sides. "Richard?" She called out and stood in the door to their home.

"Don’t Richard me right now Elpis. There’s something wrong with you I don’t know what it is but it’s not you. It has to do with the whole library shit you’re doing things reading things you don’t know about."

"Please Richard, we are a team. I need to read all those things and work on rebuilding Lyonesse. Don′t leave me alone in all this just before the ritual of iniation. I want you to be there, I need you to be there." She stepped outside. Despite being summer there were hints of ice on the floor from the previous night. Each of her steps made the ice melt and her body steamed. "It could just be hormones, you know."

"Hormones? You have not been like that with the rest of the kids. You have already started without me" he sighs. "Elpis you say a team but each time I want to help you are already 10 steps ahead so how can I help you can basically translate everything"

She came closer and wrapped her arms around him. "I can′t translate everything. I still haven′t figured out what the secret about that pearl and the portals is. We found Lyonesse, the library and the Elders, but no one knows what exactly happened in the first place." She sighed. "The more I try to solve the riddle of how and why Hy-Brasil, Avalon and Lyonesse are connected the more riddles pop up. Why was that text written in Furyan? Why did Hy-Brasil and Lyonesse sink? How did the Elders that rule the houses survive?"

"How about for once Elpis maybe for once that’s the way it is that’s what happen. Maybe my people helped build all this maybe my people killed everyone here and fell or for some crazy reason it fell just because"  

"And that is supposed to help me now?" She let him go. "Will you come with me to Lyonesse for the initiation? It seems you don′t want to." She turned to walk back inside, turning at the door. "I would like if you were there."

He sighs looking at her. "I’ll be there for you Elpis"

She turned and her eyes spoke of the battle she fought between remaining her true self and letting the anger that she didn′t know where it came from win. "Only if you want to, Richard. I thought you would be there for us and not just for me." She looked down and walked inside, where she picked up the small ledger to sit down by the fireside to try and figure out the markings and pictures again to try and clear her mind of their fight.

He sighs staying out for a moment taking a sip of his beer and walks back in. "You’re holding it upside down to start with babe." He sat next to her turning it over for her taking her finger and traces the marks with her. "It reads that the land was once powered and held up the love and souls of the people. The three families that ruled feed the land as well"

She suppressed an instinctive growl when he interfered, but when he took her finger she relaxed and let him show her the way the markings were read. She listened quietly while her mind raced. "There are so many mechanical devices all over the island. Those portals, they don′t work yet, but the one that we found in Hy-Brasil. What three families?" She looked at him and sighed. Then she whispered. "Thank you." And then leaned in to kiss him gently on the cheek.

"Hy-Brasil, Avalon and Lyonesse where three different families not only names of lands. Each family was divided in groups that controlled the mechanical devices. Magi of each family and group used spells to turn them on all at the same time" he grabs the book and holds it to her. "This is not a story book babe this is a spell book and maybe you read something that affected you"

"The Elders that woke in Lyonesse said that there has always been one who controlled all the portals. That the all spells answered to one person in Lyonesse." She sighed and leaned against him. "If what you say is true then who says that the houses don′t rival to control that power - rival to control me?" She looked into his eyes. "Who could protect me from myself then? Or anyone else?"

"This is a battle you will have to face yourself this is an inner battle and if you lose you will be lost forever"

"Then I might become a demon of the worst kind." She looked at him. "No one will be safe from me or the power I hold then. What would you do if I lost this battle?" Elpis felt afraid of what he would say. They had been through so much and now he suddenly seemed so far away.

He looks at her and sighs looking at her hand. "End you" he looks at her eyes. "You lose that being in you will take over and kill everyone and thing just like they tried a long time ago like they did my people. The only reason you’re relaxed now because it fears me...fears its own kind.”

"So that is why I keep better control when I am around you." She exhaled deeply and leaned more against him, inhaling his scent. "We will need to find the people who want me to act like this."

"She’s in you Elpis the one who wants you is there now in your mind" he opens the boom and flips through pages and sighs showing her the picture of a witch. "You need to beat her before she takes over the baby"

Something in her didn′t want to listen to his words and fought his reasonable arguments. Elpis growled. "I haven′t seen anyone like this ever." She barked at him and her eyes turned red, her body hot. "I should burn that stupid book." Elpis listened to herself and knew it wasn′t she that spoke. This was not the curious and open minded goddess everyone knew. This wasn′t cool and controlled Elpis, who could burst out because of her nature, but who usually held her emotions well hidden. „You wouldn′t end me, I am carrying your child." She pushed the book out of his hands and stared at him with red eyes. Even her voice sounded darker and different.

"I don’t who you are but you’re my wife" he looks at her seeing the red in her eyes "what do you want with Elpis witch?" He holds the book in his hand then looks at it. "Your Furyan why do you fear me?"

"I don′t fear you, Riddick." Elpis growled and stared with burning eyes at him, her hands ignited with red hot flames. "Lyonesse and its power will finally be in the right hands. All those Elder houses won′t be needed once I am The Librarian. No Guardian will be needed. You won′t be needed to protect me or keep me from doing what I want." A twisted grin came to her face

He saw the flames and stood back. "Elpis you need to fight you can′t let her win" he opens the book and scans it and starts to chant in Furyan casting a spell to place the furyan in Elpis to sleep

Elpis made a few steps towards him and reached for him and the book. She seemed to know no mercy even with Richard. But the moment she sent a fireball his way a scream echoed out. Elpis dropped to her knees, trying to fight the voices in her head. "She isn′t alone." One voice died down and was quieted by Richard′s chant. Elpis fought back now that one was silenced. Her hands burned holes into the carpet.

He looks at her and kept reading repeating the chant. "My name is Richard B Riddick the last of my kind the last of your kind the king of your people LEAVE MY WIFE AND CHILD ALONE!"

Elpis screamed out and leaned her forehead against the floor. Then she stood on all four and stared with burning red eyes at Richard. "You aren′t the last anymore, Riddick!" An evil laughter filled the room. "We are in her, you reproduced. We could take your child, one of those two in..." Elpis screamed, the red of her eyes turned to black and then to blue. She reached out with one hand towards Richard. "Richard!" She begged him.

He took her hand and sighs. "Babe I need you to fight back I can’t do it from out here" he turns the page and reads a new spell. "Your dead I’m the last of my kind my children are a better version than me"

Elpis breathed heavy and took his hand. She clasped it and her grip was deadly. She looked into Richard′s face and focused on him. Images of faces and voices swam through her head and she continued to fight while he was the rock she focused on. He was the light she tried to get to. The colour of her eyes turned from blue to black and red. Changing from animalistic to demonic and human. She growled and muttered her own spells. Finally her growl was dark and strong, her eyes red, but blood red and not as burning as before. “I am Elpis, The Librarian. I control fire and water like no one else. I control time. I control myself. I will burn down the houses if need be."

Riddick lets go of her hand "thank for you mother fuckers to go to hell!" He stares at her then kept reading watching as Elpis fought back. He saw the souls of the damned being pulled out of her body.

Elpis fought back hard, sweat forming on her forehead. "Go to hell!" She screamed and pulled herself to her knees, then slowly rose. She punched into thin air as she fought with invisible spirits that tried to get a hold of her again. The spell Richard chanted kept them visible for her, but this way she was able to fight them off, leaving them no place to go. „Go back to the failing bodies you inherited so long. I will find you there. I, ELPIS, AM THE LIBRARIAN - YOU HOLD NO POWER OVER ME! „Then all became silent. The voices in her head screamed out one more time then all was silent. Elpis stood for a moment before she slowly sank to her knees and panted. "I am back." She whispered and looked at Richard.

"You sure" he said holding a log pick from the fire place. "Huh prove it"

She looked up at him and raised her brow. "Seriously? A log pick?" She sighed and sat down on the floor, wiping her forehead. "Richard, we need to arrest a couple of Elders that were behind all this. I won′t let them stay in Lyonesse one more hour and give them a chance to escape." She looked up at him and smiled. "Move your sexy ass and help your wife up." She held out her hand to him.

"Ok it’s you" he helps her up and looks at her and sighs. "Ok first you need a break then we get them"

She grinned. "I see you know me by the way I boss around." But as soon as he had pulled her up she flung her arms around his neck and hugged him like life depended on it and began kissing his face all over with tears running down her face.

"Ok ok babe its ok yourself" he smiles kissing her lips and hugs her close

 She gave a few sobs while she tried to take a deep breath and calm down. "King of the Furyans, huh?" She smirked. "I never knew you were a king nor that the Furyans had one." Elpis wiped her face with the back of her hand and still held him in a close hug. "We can′t let them get away."

"It was all bullshit I made it all up, now I want to know why they fear me" he sat her down on the couch. "We will them one by one"

"For me you are my one of a kind king." She held his hands and looked up at him. "From the voices in my head I know they fear you, because you are the one who was able to reveal them and who can help me solve the riddles around the portals as well as protect me from them." She patted the spot next to her."

He shook his head. "No I got to go look for my stuff bring out the toys and clean them if we are going to catch these guys"

As much as she wanted to lean against him and feel him close to comfort herself, she knew he was right. So she nodded and dropped back into the couch with a sigh, trying to relax, catch a breath and gather her strength. "Yes, babe, get your toys out and we′ll go catch them."

He walks to the basement and grabs a chest and pulls it out dusting off his weapons and boots. He picked up his old goggles but left them getting his sun glasses and puts them on. He came back out looking at her. "Let’s go"

It was just enough time for Elpis to gather her strength when he came back with his sunglasses on and ready for fight. She raised a brow and smirked. "Hot, maybe we need to fight more often." When she got up and bit her lip and took a deep breath. "Let’s go, my love. I want to kick their asses from here to hell."

He smiles at her with a nod. "Come on but you can’t fight I don’t want the baby to get hurt"

She growled. "There you go spoiling all the fun." But she grinned crookedly, knowing he was concerned and worried, despite his cool outfit and demeanor. "Let me at least zap their asses, babe. We need to start at the House of Fire. The Elder, Scarlett, she was the one who got a hold of me first. Then we′ll round up the others."

"We might need some help for this" he walks to the door looking at her. "Come on now"

She followed him, pulling all her strength together. She was angry now, but it wasn′t the unfocused, all-consuming anger she had felt before. This was the just kind of anger, because someone had tried to take her over, but now she knew how anger could fuel her and she used this. "Yes, let’s go. First thing I′ll look for when this is settled is protectors and new Elders."

"Let’s start with how many do we have to catch and where are they"

"5 of the Elders that currently sit in power in Lyonesse. Maybe some of their students have been turned, but they should give up as soon as their masters are taken care of." She walked up to him and kissed his lips. "Say what you will but you aren′t the only one going in there with a toy. I may stand back, but I won′t go unarmed."
