Malius Darkblade was born and raised by a different family name as a nobleman and warrior in the distant land of Nippon. Raised to understand the virtues of war and the importance of honor he was raised to follow the way of the sword bound to live and die by the code of the Raizekaige. As he grew up he learned he was in fact the nephew of the Emperor and that his obligation to within the order had been arranged to ensure he never threaten his rule. Cast aside Malius lived only for the glory of the Empire until he fell in love with a young woman. They were wed though before they could fully complete their union he was called away to war as the Kingdom of Cathay assaulted his homeland. As war burned across the land the Legions of Cathay slaughtered all in their path wounded in battle Malius dragged himself to an ominous cave. There he was met by the Shadow Demon
Tz'arkan who offered the youth a deal he would lend him his power in return for his freedom at first he refused until he learned of the death of his beloved. Desperate he accepted and he became host for the demon who in turn gave him the power to slaughter the Cathay host though in doing so he sacrificed his own honor often attacking from the shadows or from a rising storm. Despite saving his homeland for his betrayal of the code he was exiled. After years of travelling Malius learned he had the ability to either neutralize or absorb another's powers wandering the known world leaving a trail of blood and agony until he learned of a dark and dangerous being who may have the power to free him. Hence he set out to find this Alucar only to learn that it was to late that the demon had already devoured what soul remained. Expecting to be shunned and turned away instead Alucar gave him a role and purpose in return for his unswerving loyalty.
